Serpentine Pavilion & Summer Houses
Friday 10th June - Sunday 9th October 2016

Open daily from 10am to 6pm, the Serpentine Architecture Programme expands for 2016, with four Summer Houses joining the Serpentine Pavilion.

The Serpentine Pavilion, designed by Bjarke Ingels Group,is an ‘unzipped wall’ that is transformed from straight line to three-dimensional space, creating a dramatic structure that by day houses a café and free family activities and by night becomes a space for the Serpentine’s acclaimed Park Nights, a programme of performative works by artists, writers and musicians.

The Serpentine Pavilion is one of the top-ten most visited architectural and design exhibitions in the world. Conveniently located near The Lanesborough, it's not to be missed this summer.

Georgia O’Keeffe At the Tate Modern

A rare opportunity to see over 100 remarkable paintings by this pioneer of twentieth-century art outside the US. Georgia O’Keeffe is best known for her paintings of magnified flowers, animal skulls, and New Mexico desert landscapes.

This exhibition brings together some of her most important works, including Jimson Weed/White Flower No. 1 1932, the most expensive painting by a female artist ever sold at auction.

BBC Proms at Royal Albert Hall

V&A Presents: The Camera Exposed

In the age of the mobile phone, the camera as a stand-alone device is disappearing from sight. This display focuses on the instrument itself with 120 photographs spanning the 19th century to the present day. Highlights include archives from Richard Avedon and photography of Rita Hayworth.

Goodwood Revival

Apsley House Opera: Beyond the Battlefield

On 9 June 1825, an extraordinary musical event took place in London. The 1st Duke of Wellington brought the operatic stars of Europe together to perform a glittering private concert at Apsley House. These singers had conquered the opera world with their vocal agility and bravura, commanding exorbitant fees to match.

The 9th Duke of Wellington will welcome guests to Apsley House on Wednesday 28th September at 7pm when Opera Prelude’s finest young artists will recreate this unique moment in musical history. The concert will take place in the wonderful setting of the Waterloo Gallery.

The programme includes live performances of the Rossini arias sung at the Duke's original Concert in 1825. This will be interspersed with dialogue about the remarkable lives of the performers who took part and in their own way helped to shape the musical legacy of their era and beyond.

BFI London Film Festival

The BFI London Film Festival is organised by the British Film Institute and sponsored by The Times newspaper. It takes place every year in London and is considered as the greatest British film festival.

It screens more than 300 films, documentaries and shorts from approximately 50 countries.

Picasso Portraits At The National Portrait Gallery

Picasso’s portraits epitomise the astonishing variety and innovation of his art. This major exhibition of over eighty works focuses on the artist’s portrayal of family, friends and lovers and reveals his creative processes as he moved freely between drawing from life, humorous caricature and expressive painting from memory.

On display will be portraits from all periods of Picasso’s career and in all media, from the realist paintings of his boyhood to his later ultra-spontaneous canvases. The works on show will range from celebrated masterpieces loaned by international institutions to works in private collections being shown in the United Kingdom for the first time.

Exhibition co-organised by the National Portrait Gallery, London and the Museum Picasso, Barcelona.
